WHAT TO SEE AND VISIT
Culture & Tradition
Fife
Home to Scotland’s capital for six centuries, Fife has always been at the heart of the nation’s history, evidenced by its wealth of castles, cathedrals, and places of historic interest. The Kingdom of Fife boasts more than forty courses, from the famed fairways of St Andrews and several traditional seaside links to beautifully landscaped parkland and heathland courses suitable for golfers of all levels. The landscape varies from the gentle hills in the rural hinterland to the windswept cliffs, rocky bays and sandy beaches on which scenes from the film ‘Chariots of Fire’ were shot. Fishing still has a role here but ultimately it is to St Andrews, Scotland’s oldest university town and “the Home of Golf” to which most visitors are drawn. The town and hamlets of the surrounding area retain a charming feel old-fashioned feel.

Perthshire
Perthshire – an area famed for dramatic mountains, glens and lochs, ancient castles and unspoilt nature; for golf, fishing, walking and adventure; for distinctive cultural venues and exciting events. Located at the geographical heart of Scotland, within easy reach of busy cities like Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness, Perthshire promotes itself as Big Tree Country and boasts some of Europe’s most remarkable woodlands – all easily accessible on dozens of waymarked paths and trails. The main towns and villages of Pitlochry, Aberfeldy, Dunkeld & Birnam, Blair Atholl and Kinloch Rannoch are all within short drives of each other… and all of this within roughly an hour from Scotland’s major cities.

Edinburgh
Scotland’s capital is one of the most unique and memorable cities in the world. It has a rare charm with cobbled streets, medieval and classic architecture and views on all sides – green hills, a hint of the blue sea and silhouettes of the majestic buildings. Edinburgh has been the Scottish capital since the 15th century and it has two distinct areas: the Old Town, dominated by Edinburgh Castle and its medieval fortress; and the neoclassical New Town, whose development from the 18th century onwards has far-reaching influence on European urban planning. The harmonious juxtaposition of these two contrasting historic areas is what gives the city its unique character. Edinburgh is a bustling but compact city that is easily enjoyed on foot so it is advised to wear comfortable shoes!

Loch Lomond
Loch Lomond, nestled in Scotland’s Trossachs National Park, is a mesmerizing blend of tranquil waters, rugged mountains, and lush woodlands. As the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain, it offers a sanctuary for nature enthusiasts with its diverse wildlife, scenic islands, and myriad outdoor activities. Loch Lomond is not just a natural wonder but a cultural treasure, where history and modernity converge amidst breathtaking landscapes. Whether you’re drawn to the serene beauty of the loch, the adventure of water sports, or the charm of local life, Loch Lomond encapsulates the essence of Scotland. It’s a place where each visit enriches the soul and leaves lasting memories.

East Lothian
Officially the sunniest area of Scotland, East Lothian combines the best of Scotland in miniature! The most dramatic part of the region is undoubtedly the 40 or so miles of coastline running from Musselburgh – all but joined onto Edinburgh – round to Dunbar. Here you’ll find golden beaches such as those at Gullane, Yellowcraig and Dunbar, spectacular cliffs, plus the world’s finest selection of links golf courses including Gullane and North Berwick. Other popular attractions include studying the wildlife at North Berwick’s award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre, viewing Scotland’s Concorde up close at The National Museum of Flight at East Fortune, enjoying a flutter on the horse racing at Musselburgh and of course, enjoying a wee dram at Glenkinchie Distillery at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills.
